When someone spends a lot of time in a chair, comfort can be a daily struggle.
And when your body has had to adapt to life with limb loss or reduced mobility, the right support can make a genuine difference. That’s why we were proud to welcome Blesma, The Limbless Veterans charity, to Ergochair as part of our ongoing partnership.
Blesma has been supporting veterans for more than 90 years, helping people who have lost limbs or lost the use of limbs to live normally.
Their holistic view of what each person needs to thrive reflects our own. And during their visit, we heard from Lionel, a Blesma member and veteran who shared his experience of receiving a bespoke Ergochair.
Listening first. Designing second.
Lionel underwent a full assessment with our team. We took time to understand how he sits, how he moves, where he needs support. From there, we designed a chair tailored specifically to him.
As Lionel puts it, the impact wasn’t immediate in a “magic wand” way. A properly set-up chair can take time to adjust to your back and posture may need a little time to settle and straighten.
But once it did, Lionel says the chair helped him in everyday life and even enabled him to do more walking than before. For someone who spends long periods seated, those shifts matter.
Why posture matters
Lionel also said something we hear a lot – when you’re younger, posture can feel like an abstract concept. But over time, the body keeps score.
The chair you sit in for hours each day isn’t just a chair. It can either support you, or gradually contribute to aches, fatigue, and reduced mobility.
Lionel’s story is a reminder of why personal ergonomics matters, and why we create seating that makes a practical, measurable difference to daily comfort, independence, and quality of life.
A heartfelt thank you to Lionel for sharing his experience, and to everyone at Blesma for the incredible work you do supporting veterans.
