We want to be a business our families can be proud of.
That means taking our responsibilities seriously – to our people, our customers, our partners, and to the communities we serve and operate in.
That’s why our whole approach has sustainability baked in – we design and manufacture products to last, so they’re useful for longer.
And we are continuously improving how we operate, from materials, energy and packaging to partners and suppliers.
Ergochair was the first UK furniture manufacturer to commit to meet The Climate Pledge’s net-zero target by 2040 – alongside some of the world’s biggest brands and businesses – and we measure and report progress as part of that commitment.
You won’t find Ergochair adding to the 1.8 million office chairs that end up in landfill each year (just in the UK)*.
Even when we work with businesses on entire office fit outs, our policy is to collect, assess, refurbish and rehome old office chairs with local charities.
We calculate the carbon emissions savings generated and provide certification so our customers can tell their own sustainability story.
We’re committed to cutting carbon and waste where we can, how we power our site, how we package and ship products, and how we make smart choices that help materials go further.
We run our factory on 100% renewable electricity, with on-site solar generation.
We design for durability and long-term use, and we back that up with repair, refurbishment and take-back routes that help products stay in circulation and out of landfill.
Our packaging is designed to be 100% recyclable and we prioritise recycled, second-life materials wherever possible, including infill, to reduce virgin inputs.
Responsible practice has to extend across our supply chain too. That means setting clear expectations, choosing partners carefully, and taking issues seriously when they’re raised.
We’re moving towards lower-impact travel and operations, including electric vehicle adoption within the business, and we’re always reviewing how we plan journeys and deliveries to reduce unnecessary miles.
We donated refurbished chairs to Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire as they moved into their new office in Yate, helping a local charity stretch its budget, and keeping used chairs out of landfill.
